Women's Soccer Defeated 5-0 by UMBC

The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to UMBC this afternoon. The Peacocks now fall to 1-4 on the season, while the Retrievers improve to 1-3-1.

UMBC got on the board seventeen minutes into the first half, as Bria Bass scored from inside the box off a long pass from Alexa Quaranta. Bass netted her second marker of the game for the Retrievers just over seven minutes later (24:46) to put the visitors ahead 2-0.

Saint Peter's was out-shot 6-4 in the opening frame, with just one of the Peacocks' shots on goal.

The Peacocks started off the second half controlling the game offensively, outshooting the Retrivers 5-4, until UMBC's Alexa Quaranta scored at 68:58 to make the score 3-0. The Retrievers added their fourth goal of the game a minute later, on a shot by Preslie Quaranta. She would score again at 87:31 to put UMBC ahead 5-0.

Both teams totalled 14 shots in the contest, with UMBC's finishing with 11 on goal and Saint Peter's 7. UMBC committed 14 fouls to the Peacocks' 6.

Greta Vogel recorded 6 saves in her debut in goal.

The Peacocks return to action this Sunday, as they travel to Easton, PA to faceoff against Lafayette at 1pm.
