Box Score In their final non-conference matchup of the year, the Saint Peter's University women's soccer team (1-9) fell to the Princeton University Tigers this afternoon by a score of 6-1. Senior midfielder Chloe Zmolek scored the Peacocks' lone goal of the game for her second marker of the year. Saint Peter's will commence the MAAC portion of their schedule this Saturday at Manhattan College.
The visiting Tigers started off the scoring early, connecting on their first goal of the game less than two minutes into the first frame. Jen Hoy received a pass in the box from Gabrielle Guzman and found the back of the net at 1:57 to give Princeton a 1-0 advantage.
The score remained locked at 1-0, until the 30-minute mark, when Gabrielle Ragazzo took a shot from 15 yards out that would hit the right post. Jessica Lee was there for the rebound, and tapped in the ball to extend the Tigers' lead to 2-0. At 37:55, the Tigers took a 35 yard throw in that would hit a Peacock defender and go in for an own goal (3-0).
Saint Peter's entered the half-time break trailing 3-0, and took just 4 shots in the opening half, to the visitors' 14 .
The Tigers added 3 goals in the second half; the fourth at 52:22 by Liana Cornacchio, and the fifth by Hoy (her second of the game) over a minute later.
Senior midfielder Chloe Zmolek notched the Peacock's lone goal of the game, her second of the season, at 68:35 to bring the hosts within four at 5-1. She was assisted by Jamie Lisanti and Shanay Fisher.
Cornacchio netted her second marker of the contest and half at 68:35 (6-1).
Two yellow cards were awarded in the match; one to the Saint Peter's bench, and another to Princeton's Lindsey Heigh.
Overall, the Peacocks were out-shot 24-11. Nine of Saint Peter's shots were on goal.
