Despite the monsoon-like conditions at Van Cortlandt Park, Sylvestr Inda and Edwin Young turned in strong performances over the 8k course.
Inda's team best time of 28:15 was good for 35th overall, while Young's 28:49 was a personal best. Freshman Lance Weaver posted a time of 30:05 in his first collegiate race.
On the women's side, Shona Potrzuski was the top finisher with a time of 22:04. She was followed by freshman Devon Carman (22:44).
"The weather conditions were certainly wrecking havoc with the course, and, given the circumstances, our team members did a fine job", commented Head Coach Mike Massone. "I certainly think there will be a steady improvement moving forward, as our younger runners gain more experience. As the season goes on and they become more familiar with the course, the level of competition, and for the men, the collegiate distance, I'm confident they will respond."
