The Saint Peter's Univeristy men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated St. Francis-NY in Brooklyn, NY this weekend by scores of 108-97 and 113-92, respectively. The men also picked up a win against the College of Staten Island, 109-85.
Both 200 Yard Relay teams picked up first place finishes on the afternoon. The women's team of Michelle Corpuz, Nowras Halag, Cristina DeCisneros and Brigitte Rasmussen finished in a time of 1:56.34. The men's team of Facundo Monteiro Kempf, Peter Jimenez, Sean Dunne and Mark Conte finished in 1:37.91.
Anastasiia Mushtei led the women with two first place finishes in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:02.51) and the 1000 Yard Freestyle (10:38.66), while Brendan King also came away with two first place finishes on the men's side in the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:56.35) and the 1000 Yard Freestyle (10:06.55).
The men had five other first place finishes: Ayberk Furkan Ozturk (200 Yard Freestyle- 1:48.43), Mark Conte (50 Yard Freestyle- 22.29), Peter Jimenez (200 Yard IM- 2:00.01), Lovro Bilonic (100 Yard Freestyle- 46.90) and Facu Monteiro (100 Yard Backstroke- 53.53).
The women also had five other first place finishes: Rachel Wuko (50 Yard Freestyle- 25.12), Christina Petrelis (200 Yard IM- 2:21.97), Cristina Decisneros (100 Yard Butterfly- 1:00.78), Alexandra Sison (100 Yard Freestyle- 56.34), Michelle Corpuz (100 Yard Backstroke- 1:04.35).
Saint Peter's returns to the Yanitelli Center Pool for their final home swim meet of the year this Saturday. The Peacocks host the University of Bridgeport at 1pm.
Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Peacocks. Seniors Lovro Bilonic, Bryant Hart, Ali Hassan, Peter Jimenez, Brendan King, Yohancey Kingston, Valerijs Lebedevs, Facu Monteiro, Ayberk Ozturk, Lowell Thomas Tanyag and Raven Innis will all be honored prior to the first race for their contributions as members of the Saint Peter's swimming and diving team.
