Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Manhattan scored in the 46th minute en route to a 1-0 win against Saint Peter's in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's soccer action on Wednesday.
Carlos Suarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/St. Benedict's Prep) made three saves for the Peacocks (2-6-4, 0-2-2 MAAC) in the loss.
Dan Laguna Kennedy scored off a Dominic Chavez assist at the 45:59 mark for lone goal on the afternoon to lead the Jaspers (2-7-1, 2-0-1 MAAC) to the victory. Alex Coates McDowall made three saves in the winning effort.
After a scoreless first half, Manhattan found the twine in the first minute of the final frame and held on for its first win against Saint Peter's since 2005.
The Peacocks outshot the Jaspers 9-8 in the game, but the squad's best scoring chance came in the first half. Maged Alkasimi (Brooklyn, N.Y./Libitty) served in a nice ball to Nick Sifrin (Schlangen, Germany/Gymnasium Paderborn), who headed the ball toward the left netting, but Coates McDowall came up with a nice diving save to keep the game scoreless in the 22nd minute.
In the second half, Coates McDowall made a stop against an Alkasimi shot in the 64th minute while Lukas Binting (Berlin, Germany/Kant Gymnasium) had the final scoring chance for Saint Peter's but missed wide in the 81st minute.
The Peacocks return to action in one week at Monmouth on Oct. 23. Match time is 7 p.m.
