Mushtei-Wuko Tandem Fuels Women's Swimming & Diving Past Stevens Insitute, 109-96; Men Fall To Stevens Institute

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Anastasiia Mushtei (Dneiptopnovsh, Ukraine/Finans Deukomi) and Rachel Wuko (Wildwood Crest, N.J./Wildwood Crest) each won two individual events to lead the Saint Peter's women's swimming and diving team to a 109-96 victory against Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday. Jonathan Gomez (Cali, Colombia/Patrick Henry [Va.]) and Nick Reipe (Middlesex, N.J./Saint Joseph) won two events apiece to pace the Peacocks men's swimming and diving team in a 136-69 loss to Stevens Institute of Technology.

Mushtei spent the most time in the pool after winning the 1000 free (10:33.35) and the 500 free (5:11.62) while Wuko took care of the short-distance freestyle with victories in the 50 free (24.73) and the 100 free (53.80).

Wuko also anchored the winning 200-medley relay (1:52.18) that was started by Matea Samardzic (Split, Croatia/Ekonomsko-Birotehnicka Skola), Nowras Halag (Shknin, Israel/Hofsharon) and Christina Decisneros (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) Samardzic also won the 100 back (58.40) and placed second in the 200 free (1:56.82) with a program-record time while Decisnernos won the 100 fly (59.77).

Alexandra Sison (Jersey City, N.J./Saint Dominic Academy) placed second in the 200 IM (2:15.51), second in the 100 breast (1:08.90) and third in the 100 free (56.23).  Marie Feneron (Molsheim, France/Lycee Henri Meck) was second in the 100 fly (1:02.06) and third in the 200 IM (2:16.22) while Alma Lopez (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) placed third in both the 200 free (2:00.93) and the 500 free (5:24.71).

Feneron, Mushtei, Lopez and Christina Petrelis (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) finished second in the 400-free relay (4:13.91).

Gomez, the current Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, won the 200 IM (1:55.16) and the 100 back (52.39). Its been quite a start to the freshman's collegiate career after posting five individual wins and one second-place standing in his first two meets.

Just like Mushtei on the women's side, Reipe spent the most time in the pool and won both long-distance races after taking the 1000 free (9:56.22) and the 500 free (4:53.04).

Sean Dunne (Holmdel, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) placed third in both the 50 free (22.26) and the 200 breast (1:03.08). Trey McGraw was third in the 200 free (1:46.60), Manuel Garcia (Mexico City, Mexico/The American School Foundation) finished third in the 100 fly (53.62) and Omar Hassan (Bayonne, N.J./High-Tech) placed third in the 100 back (57.18).

Garcia, Alejandro Rubin (Caracas, Venezuela/San Ignacio), Gomez and McGraw teamed up to finish third in the 400-medley relay (3:17.21).

The Saint Peter's men's swimming and diving team returns to action at NJIT on Nov. 15 while the women's swimming and diving team will next be in action at the Frank Elms Invitational on Nov. 23.
