Opening Serve: The Saint Peter's men's tennis team welcomes Niagara University to the Yanitelli Bubble tomorrow afternoon for their third conference match of the year. The Peacocks head into the match with an overall record of 3-8 and a conference record of 1-1. The match marks the seventh consecutive home contest for the Peacocks. Earlier this season, Saint Peter's picked up a 6-1 win over Rider (10/27) and dropped a 6-1 decision to Fairfield (2/14).
About the Purple Eagles: Niagara comes into the match on a five-match winning streak, which is their longest since winning five straight last season. The Purple Eagles are currently 9-6 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in MAAC play. Niagara will face Wagner today at 3pm before facing Saint Peter's tomorrow morning.
Last Time Out: In their last contest, the Peacocks fell by a score of 6-1 to the Villanova Wildcats in the Yanitelli Bubble. Marko Knezevic secured the lone point for the Peacocks defeating Chris Seitz at #2 singles by scores of 7-6, 6-3. Luccas Coutinho almost came away with a win at #4 singles, but fell in three. The junior forced a decisive third set against Nova's Max Levine after falling 6-1 in the first and battling out a 6-4 set-two win. Levine would ultimately win the tie-breaker 10-8.
Home Is Where The Heart Is: In their 2013 slate, 11 of the Peacocks 18 total matches are scheduled to take place in Jersey City, N.J. Saint Peter's will travel outside of the Metropolitan area just once in the year, as they head down to Batimore, Md. for a conference match against Loyola (4/20).
