JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The Saint Peter's University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to the visiting Niagara University Purple Eagles this afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
The Peacocks (5-9, 1-2 MAAC) recorded their points in singles play, as Adina Ungurean-Halagian (Bucharest, Romania/Schiller International School) and Jessica Nowodgrodzki (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) defeated their respective opponents.
Niagara improves to 11-5, 5-0 MAAC with the win.
Unugurean-Halagian rallied back from a first set loss to win in three at number two singles against Niagara's Sarah Hellstern. Halagian won the second set 7-6 after winning the tie-breaker by a score of 7-2 and sealed the deal with a 10-4 set-three win.
Nowodgrodzki won easily at #6 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-2 against Viki Sardellitti.
The Peacocks lost in straight sets in the remaining singles matches and lost all three doubles matches.
Saint Peter's returns to action on April 5th, as it hosts Manhattan at 4pm in the Yanitelli Bubble.
