PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Saint Peter's University men's tennis team was swept by Drexel University this afternoon in non-conference action.
Despite failing to record any points, the Peacocks (2-8) did battle the Dragons (7-5) tough in singles play; dropping three of the six matches in three sets.
At #1 singles, freshman Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador/APCH) was able to take the first set by a score of 6-4, but opponent Badr Quabdelmoumen bounced back and secured set two and three wins (6-2, 6-0).
Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) also went three sets at #2 singles against Sri Jeganathan, forcing a decisive third set after taking the second frame by a score of 6-4. Knezevic was defeated 6-3 in the first set and ultimately lost the third by a score of 10-7.
Oliver Bellomi (Parksville, BC/Laurel Spring) was also able to come from behind and pick up a set two win (6-4), before losing the third, 10-7, to Xabier Saavedra at #5 singles.
The Peacocks dropped all three doubles matches.
Saint Peter's continues its three-game road trip, with a match against Wagner College on April 5th in Staten Island, N.Y.
