Box Score TEANECK, N.J.- The Saint Peter's University baseball team managed just five hits, en route to a 5-1 defeat to Fairleigh Dicksinon University Wednesday afternoon.
William Rawson (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) finished 1-for-3 and drove in the lone Peacock run of the game.
Jonathan Padilla (Elizabeth, N.J. /Elizabeth HS) picked up the loss for Saint Peter's (12-20) in the first appearance of his rookie campaign. The righty went 3.2 innings and gave up four runs on six walks and three hits.
Edward Mejias (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) closed out the game for the Peacocks on the mound, pitching four and a third innings and giving up just one run on three hits.
Ryan MacDonald led Fairleigh Dickinson at the plate going 1-for-3 with three walks and scoring two runs.
FDU scored two runs in the first on an infield single by Weeks with two on and one out. A sacrifice fly by Dylan Sprague accounted for what would prove to be the game-winning run. The Knights added two more insurance runs in the following inning on a two-RBI double by Riley Moonan with two outs.
Saint Peter's managed their only marker in the third inning, as freshman Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township High School) doubled down the left field line to lead off the frame. A wild pitch moved the rookie to third and he would score two batters later on a groundout to first by Rawson.
FDU added their final run in the seventh. Saint Peter's recorded just three hits in the final six innings, but left six total runners on base, including two in the ninth.
The Knights finished with six hits in the win and committed three errors, while the Peacocks made just one.
Saint Peter's returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action this weekend, as they face off against the Rider Broncs for a three-game series starting Saturday at noon.
