Men's Golf Moves Up To Fifth Place At MAAC Men's Golf Championships

BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Andrew Gain (Gold Coast, Australia/Bond College) ranks 14th after the second round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Golf Championships to lead Saint Peter's to a fifth-place standing on Saturday.

After shooting a four-over round of 76 in the first round, Gain finished one stroke better in the second round with a 75 to finish 14th with a total of 151, 11 strokes behind the current leaders. The senior posted birdies on the second and 11 holes while registering bogeys on nine, 10, 14, 16 and 18 to finish with a three-over round.

Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) also improved a stroke in the second round to register a 75 after posting a 77 in the first round to card a 153 in the two rounds and sit in 16th place. Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) also sits in the Top-20 in 18th place after posting a 77 in the first round and a 78 in the second round for a score of 155. Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) and Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) are tied for 29th after shooting an 82 in the first round and a 79 in the second round for a score of 161. 

Fairfield and Iona will share the lead going into the final round with a two-round score of 588 while Loyola (598), Canisius (615), Saint Peter's (620), Manhattan (620), Rider (641), Siena (646) and Niagara (660) round out the nine-team field.

Luke Previte (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) is competing in the event as an individual and finished in 43rd place with a score of 170.

Last season, the Peacocks finished with its highest standing at the MAAC Tournament with a second-place standing.

Saint Peter's concludes its season in the final round of the MAAC Men's Golf Championships. The Peacocks will be paired with Manhattan and Canisius and will start on the first tee. Molson (8:20 a.m.) will be the first of the five competitors to tee off and will be followed by Dilio (8:30 a.m.), Grubbs (8:40 a.m.), Edmunds (8:50 a.m.) and Gain (9 a.m.).
