LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) shot a two-over final round to move up to 11th place at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Golf Championships to lead Saint Peter's to a sixth-place standing on Sunday.
After shooting 77 and 76 on the first two days of the championships, Edmunds posted a 74 in the final round to finish in 11th place with a score of 227, 19 strokes behind the medalist. The sophomore made up for three bogeys and one double bogey with birdies on the first, seventh and 18 holes to finish two-over in the final round.
Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) also posted a 74 in the final round to finish two strokes behind Edmunds in 15th place with a three-round score of 229. Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) (28th place, 239) and Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) (32nd place, 243) rounded out the Peacocks team competitors in the third round.
Senior Andrew Gain (Gold Coast, Australia/Bond College), who paced the team with a 76 and 75 in the first two rounds to sit in 14th place after the first two rounds, did not participate in the third round after withdrawing from the event.
Loyola rallied from a 10-stroke deficit to come-from-behind for a one-stroke victory with total of 881 in the three rounds. Iona and Fairfield held the lead going into the final round with a 588, but the Gaels finished second with a score of 882 and the Stags placed third with 884 while Canisius (916), Manhattan (927), Saint Peter's (928), Rider (952), Siena (973) and Niagara (985) rounded out the nine-team field. The Peacocks posted a 312 in the first round and 308 in the final two rounds for its score of 928.
Luke Previte (Middlesex. N.J./Middlesex) completed in the event as an individual and finished 40 with a score of 253.
