Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Seton Hall downed Saint Peter's 16-0 in five innings in a non-conference softball contest on Tuesday.
Taylor Corretjer (Elmwood, Park, Ill./Elmwood Park) and Sierra Parker (Chino Hills, Calif./Caldwell College) each had a base hit for the Peacocks (9-43) while Michelle Tinajero (Theills, N.Y./North Rockland) reached base twice on a pair of walks in the loss.
Sara Haefeli paced the Pirates (19-26) with two hits, two runs scored and five RBIs while Maria Deluca added two hits, four RBIs and a run scored. Brittany Hammer, Meredith Henze and Jackie Dipietro each knocked in two runs in the winning effort.
Seton Hall scored nine times in the first inning and never looked back to earn the 16-0 victory in five innings.
Deluca got the scoring started in the nine-run first inning with a two-run single up the middle before Henze plated two more runs with a double down the left field line. After Haefeli made it a seven-run inning on a three-run homer to left, Deluca capped the inning that she started with a two-run double to left center to post four RBIs in the stanza and give the Pirates a 9-0 lead.
Seton Hall added three runs in the second fueled by a DiPietro two-run bomb to left center and a Hammer RBI double to center for a 12-0n advantage.
After Samantha DeMasi posted an RBI single to left in the fourth, the Pirates scored three times in the fifth on Haefeli's s two-run homer to cap a two-homer, five RBI performance and then Hammer knocked in the final run on a run-scoring single to left to set the final score at 16-0.
The Pirates retired the first six batters before Tinajero walked to open the third. After a sacrifice bunt moved her to second, a strikeout and fly out ended the threat. Parker then ended the no-hitter with two outs in the fourth on Parker's double to left center before a pop out ended the inning.
The Peacocks best chance to score came in the fifth. With one out, Tinajero walked and then Corretjer reached on an infield single to put runners at first and second, but a ground out and a strikeout ended the game.

The Peacocks conclude their 2013 season at home against Iona on Saturday. First pitch of the doubleheader is 12 p.m. After the twinbill, Saint Peter's will honor seniors Parker, Shelby Beaver (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) and Alexis Gallagher (Narvon, Pa./Garden Spot).
