QUEENS, N.Y.- The Saint Peter's University track and field teams competed in their second event of the weekend at the local Queens College Invitational in New York.
The women turned in several noteworthy performances, led by Shona Potrzuski's (Pitman N.J./Pitman High School) first place finish in the 800m Run coming in at 2:23.79.
The tandem of Renee Brzyski (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery HS) and Andrijana Andric (Belgrade, Serbia/Traffic High School) finished one-two in the 400m Hurdles; coming in at 1:09.13 and 1:12.63, respectively.
Hasanna Smith (Newark, N.J./Malcolm X. Shabazz) and Mbalu Keita (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck High School) each came away with second place finishes in their respective events; Smith in the High Jump and Keita in the Triple Jump.
Jennifer Cajou (Amityville, N.Y/Farmingdale HS) finished third overall in the 100m Dash with a time of 14.06 and teammate Essence Rogers (Central Islip, N.Y./Bay Shore High School) came behind her in fourth.
Freshman Shenell Garner (Cocoa Beach, Fl./Cocoa Beach) had an extremely successful outing in her young career, finishing first in the Discuss with a toss of 32.00m.
On the men's side, Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) continued his strong rookie campaign; just missing first place in the 800m Run with a time of 1:59.76.
The throwers also did well, as Ieshawn Johnson (Freeport, N.Y./Baldwin High School) finished first in the Discuss in Flight #2, while Kene Aneke (Long Island, N.Y./Holy Trinity), Travis Gallardo (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) and Johnson came fourth-fifth-sixth respectively in Flight #2 of the Shot Put event.
Saint Peter's returns to the track on April 13th, as it heads to New Brunswick, N.J. for the Metropolitan Championships.
