JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory Monday afternoon against conference foe Rider in the Peacock's season opener.
The Peacocks sweep the Broncs in singles play, winning all six matches.
Senior Alexandria Livingston (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) set the tone for the Peacocks, opening up singles play with a victory against Alison Noll, winning the match 7-5, 6-2. Senior Ivana Grbelja (Kelowna, Canada/Immaculata Regional) played well her opening match of the season, winning 6-1, 6-1. Junior Adina Halagian played well also, winning the match 6-1, 6-2.
Freshmen Elena Melian and Lucia Radovic played well in their Peacock debuts, winning each of their debut singles matches.
Saint Peter's had continued success in doubles play as well. The Peacocks won all three of their doubles play matches. Grbelja and senior Vanessa Vogel (Phoenix, AZ/Boulder Creek) did not allow a point in their doubles match against the Broncs.
With the win, Saint improves to 1-0 on the season.
Saint Peter's returns to action Sept. 25, when they welcome conference opponent Monmouth to the Yanitelli Bubble.
