JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's tennis team extended its win streak on Wednesday, defeating conference foe Monmouth, 4-3.
Senior Alexandria Livingston (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) kicked things off for the Peacocks, defeating her opponent Brooke Verdiglione in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. Senior Ivana Grbelja (Kelowna, Canada/Immaculata Regional) also performed well for Saint Peter's, defeating her opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Sophomore Adina Ungurean-Halagian won her singles match against Ashley Sandler, 7-5, 6-4. Freshman Lucia Radovic continues to play well in her first season, winning her singles match, 6-1, 6-0.
Saint Peter's performed well in singles play, winning four of the six matches against the Hawks.
With the win, the Peacocks improve to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in MAAC play. Monmouth falls to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Saint Peter's returns to action Sept. 27-29, when they travel to upstate New York to compete in the West Point Invitational.
