Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Penn defeated Saint Peter's 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday.
Molly O'Halloran (Colonia, N.J./Union Catholic Regional) made four saves for the Peacocks (0-3) while Devon Williams Neptune City, N.J./Netune [New Jersey City]) notched the only shot on the night.
Kerry Scalora paced the Quakers (1-0) with a tally and two assists while Kathryn Barth, Tahirih Nesmith and Nikoletta Georgallis also found the twine. Kallijah Terrilli made one save in the winning effort.
Penn scored two goals in the first half and then added two late tallies in the final 10 minutes to win its season opener and the first-ever meetings between the two teams.
Barth started the scoring off a feed from Scarlora in the 24th minute before Nesmith found the twine off feeders from Clara Midgley and Kaitlyn Moore in the 39th minute to give the Quakers a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The score remained the same until the final eight minutes of the match. Scalora scored off a Haley Cooper in the 83rd minute. Scalora and Barth helped seal the victory by assisting Georgallis' goal in the 88th minute.
Williams had the scoring chance for Saint Peter's in the seventh minute of the match, but her shot was turned away by Terilli.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Sept. 13 when the squad begins a five-game homestand against LIU Brooklyn. Match time is 4 p.m.
