Swimming And Diving Sweeps Manhattan

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's swimming and diving team swept all 13 events while the Peacocks women's swimming and diving squad won all the swimming events to sweep Manhattan in dual meet action on Friday night. The men downed the Jaspers 158-71 while the women won 160-53.

Sean Dunne (Holmdel, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) (100 fly [52.49] and 100 breast [1:00.27]), Manuel Garcia (Mexico City, Mexico/The American School Foundation) (50 free [22.40] and 100 free [48.86]), Jonathan Gomez (Cali, Colombia/Patrick Henry [Va.]) (200 IM [1:56.71] and 100 back [53.70]), Aaron Manfredo (1-meter dive [175.83] and 3-meter dive (147.50]) and Nicholas Riepe (Middlesex, N.J./Saint Joseph) (1000 free [9:43.76] and 500 free [4:53.67]) each won two events to power the Saint Peter's men's swimming and diving team. Trey McGraw (Berkley, W. Va./Patrick Henry) earned the other individual win for the Peacocks men in the 200 free (1:50.87).

On the women's side, Anastasiia Mushtei (Dneiptopnovsh, Ukraine/Finans Deukomi) (1000 free [10:39.26] and 500 free [5:16.64]), Matea Samardzic (Split, Croati/Ekonomsko-Birotehnicka Skola) (200 free [1:55.54] and 100 back 57.31]), Rachel Wuko (Wildwood Crest, N.J./Wildwood Crest) (50 free [24.26] and 100 free [53.03]) were two-time winners on the night while Marie Feneron (Molsheim, France / Lycee Henri Meck) (200 IM, 2:12.30), Cristina DeCisneros (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) (100 fly, 1:01.24) and Alexandra Sison (Jersey City, N.J./Saint Dominic Academy) (100 breast, 1:10.29) also earned wins for Saint Peter's.  The Peacocks swept the Top-3 spots in the 200 free, the 50 free, the 200 IM and the 100 free against Manhattan.

The men's 200-medley relay team of Gomez, Paolo Jimenez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne), Garcia and Dunne teamed up for the win (1:36.92) while McGraw, Justin Johnson (Brown Mills, N.J./Pemberton Township), Alex McElvaney (Lacey Township, N.J./Lacey Township) and Alejandro Rubin (Caracas, Venezuela/San Ignacio) won the 200-free relay (1:31.49).

Omar Hassan (Bayonne, N.J./High-Tech) finished second in the 100 back (1:00.27) and third in both the 1000 free (10:50.86) and 200 IM (2:07.29). Rubin placed second in the 200 free (1:51.45) and second in the 100 free (50.24).

McElvaney (50 free, 23.04), McGraw (500 free, 5:06.87) and Riepe (100 fly, 54.55) also recorded second-place finishes on the evening.

Also on the women's side,the 200-medley relay team took first after Samardzic, Sison, Feneron and Wuko teamed up for win (1:49.35) and the quartet of Alma Lopez (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood), Michelle Corpuz (Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan), Jenna Carbin (Neptune, N.J./Jaclkson Memorial) and Christina Petrelis (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) won the 200-free relay (1:44.77).

Lopez finished second in the 1000 free (10:52.52) and second in the 200 free (1:25.30) while Petrelis placed second in the 200 IM (2:20.78) and in the 500 free (5:24.35).

Sison (50 free, 25.82), Feneron (100 free, 55.89), Corpuz (100 back, 1:04.26) and Nowras Halag (Shknin, Israel/Hofsharon) (100 breast, 1:11.85) also registered second-place standings on the day. Corpuz also placed third in the 50 free (26.03).

Carbin recorded third-place standings in the 200 IM (2:21.86) and the 100 fly (1:03.92). Mushtei (200 free, 2:04.92), Gloria Morales (St. Croix, Virgin Island/The Good Hope School) (100 free, 58.48) and Brigitte Rasmussen (Virgin Islands/Country Day School) (100 breast, 1:11.95) each finished third on the night.

Saint Peter's concludes its home schedule for the season against Iona at the Yanitelli Center Pool. Prior to the meet, the Peacocks will honor seniors DeCisneros, Lopez, McElvaney, McGraw and Rubin.
