FLUSHING, N.Y. – The USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals is underway at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center hosted by St. John's University.
In Saint Peter's opening day of competition, the Peacocks trotted out Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador/APCH) and Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don,Russia/(UMKC) to the court for a doubles contest against Nicolas Podesta and Jeremy of the University of Pennsylvania. The duo of Carrera and Ivanov dropped its matchup against their Ivy League competitors, 8-4.
Carrera was not done for the afternoon, as he later took on Michal Rolski of Wagner College for an opportunity to advance to the second round of the singles bracket.
The first set was close, where Rolski outlasted Carrera by the score of 7-6 (2) before winning the second set 6-1.
The USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals resumes tomorrow and will run until Oct. 21.
