JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's athletic department has announced its basketball promotional schedule for 2014 portion of the men's and women's basketball schedule.
The Saint Peter's men's basketball team will host Niagara on Nov. 20 for the squad's home opener at 7 p.m. The game will be Veteran's Appreciation Night and anyone who served in the United States military will be admitted to the game for free and will be recognized for their service during the contest.
Also during the Peacocks men's basketball game against the Purple Eagles, Saint Peter's will be holding a food drive with all proceeds going to the Campus Kitchen at Saint Peter's University. The food donated will go towards the Thanksgiving Dinner for 250 people in need to be served on Nov. 26. Fans are encouraged to bring Thanksgiving style food for donations like stuffing, canned vegetables etc.
The first 100 Saint Peter's University students in attendance at the men's home opener will receive a drawstring backpack courtesy of NCAA Basketball and Saint Peter's Athletics.
The Saint Peter's women's basketball team will host Lehigh on Nov. 25 for its inaugural home game of the year at 7 p.m. Saint Peter's will once again be holding a Thanksgiving food drive with all the proceeds going to the Campus Kitchen at Saint Peter's University for its Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 26.
"Tacky Sweater Night" will be held at the men's basketball contest against Canisius on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. All fans are encouraged to break out their best festive tacky sweater for the game. At halftime, Saint Peter's will hold a voting contest for the "Best Tacky Sweater " of the night and the winner will win a prize.
During the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on December 10, Saint Peter's will be holding a New Toy Drive. All toys donated will go toward the Captain Mark Lee Angel Giving Tree, which will provide toys for 313 underprivileged children. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used toys for this worthy cause. The women's team will be hosting Fairleigh Dickinson at 6 p.m. and the men's team will welcome Princeton for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
The first 50 Saint Peter's students in attendance will receive a drawstring backpack courtesy of NCAA Basketball and Saint Peter's Athletics for the women's game against the Knights.
Also, make sure you come out for the Saint Peter's men's basketball game against Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. In the final game before the holiday, Saint Peter's will celebrate the season with holiday music throughout the contest against the Knights for "Holiday In JC" Day.
