opening pitch… Wednesday's regular season finale between Saint Peter's and Monmouth marks the 29th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1970 season. The Hawks have won the last three matches to take a 15-13-0 lead in the all-time series. The Peacocks last win in the matchup was a 2-0 decision in 2008.
the word on hawks… Monmouth comes into the contest 7-3-6 overall and 3-1-5 in league play after ending in a 1-all standstill against Siena on Saturday. Dom Sarle leads the team with five goals and four assists for 14 points while Dave Nigro and Bryant Avalos are second with three tallies and two assists for eight points. Eric Klenofsky has 57 saves, a 0.40 goals against average and a .891 save percentage.
last time we met… Monmouth downed Saint Peter's 2-0 on Oct. 23, 2013. Carlos Suarez made three saves for the Peacocks while David Giddings made two stops in the loss. Tomas Penfold registered a goal and an assist for the Hawks while Jacob Rubinstein added a tally. Eric Klenofsky turned away four shots in the winning effort.
last time out… Canisius defeated Saint Peter's 2-0 on Saturday. David Giddings made two saves for the Peacocks while Dor Uzan had a team-high three shots on the night.

thank you seniors… Saint Peter's would like to thank seniors Omar Crowl, David Giddings and Marcel Maddee' for their hard work and dedication to Saint Peter's and the men's soccer program during their tenure in Jersey City. Crowl has played the last two seasons in Jersey City, registering two goals and one assist for five points on 25 shots in 28 games, including 17 starts. Giddings also joined the team last season and has posted 74 saves and four shutouts in 25 games in between the pipes. Maddee' has spent four years with the Peacocks, recording nine goals and 11 assists for 29 points in 60 games played and 51 starts.
to the victor goes the spoils… The Peacocks were eliminated after Monmouth defeated Rider on Oct. 29. Saint Peter's can make the playoff race interesting for the Hawks with a win or a tie on Wednesday. Monmouth will earn a spot in the postseason with a win, but a loss or a tie could knock the defending regular season champions out of the tournament depending on the other results.
not making it fair for other animals… Sophomore Luke Fairlamb leads the team with six goals and four assists for 16 points. It is the most goals and points in a season since Noah Sadaoui had nine goals and one assist for 19 points in 2012. Senior Marcel Maddee' paced the team with four goals and seven assists for 15 points last season.
fairlamb honored… Luke Fairlamb was named the MAAC Wilson Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 22-28. It is the sophomore's first league honor. Fairlamb posted two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win against Atlantic-10 member George Washington. The sophomore converted a penalty kick at the 25:02 mark and then dished out an assist on Louis Mobbs' tally at 33:31 before knocking in his second PK of the afternoon at 40:13 to have a hand in all three Peacocks' first-half goals.
maddee' honored… Marcel Maddee' was named the MAAC Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-7. It is the senior's second conference honor in his career. Maddee' scored twice to help the Saint Peter's men's soccer team to a 2-1 win against Hartwick on Sunday. The senior converted a Hawks' giveaway into a breakaway tally at the 3:32 mark to give the Peacocks an early 1-0 lead. He then took a feed from Santiago Mateus and found the back of the net at the 68:44 mark for what proved ro be the eventual game-winning goal. It was the senior's second multi-goal performance of his career after posting two goals in a 2-all standstill against Niagara last season on Oct. 5, 2013.
collegiate firsts… Sophomore Luke Fairlamb notched his first collegiate goal against Villanova on Sept. 11. The sophomore had three assists as a freshman, but had not twinkled the twine until his tally against the Wildcats. Sophomore Santiago Mateus posted his first career assist in the 2-1 win against Hartwick on Sept. 7. Freshman Ezequiel Cei notched his first career tally against Delaware on Sept. 14 and recorded his first collegiate assist against Bryant on Sept. 27. Freshman Michael Crentsil posted his first career goal and assist against Iona on Oct. 15. Sophomore Reece Lambert recorded his first career goal in a 1-0 win against Manhattan on Oct. 29.
so close… Saint Peter's finished 4-9-5 last season and played in seven overtime games. The Peacocks were 1-1-5 in extra session contests and played in 15 games that were decided by one goal or less. Saint Peter's was 4-4-5 in games set in that margin of score in 2013. Twelve of the 17 games played in 2014 have been decided by one goal or less.
say willie, are you ready to go on the road again... The Peacocks started the season with a six-game road trip. It was the third time in team history the squad has opened a season with six-straight away contests, joining the 1993 and 2011 teams. It will also be the only the second time in program history Saint Peter's will play nine of its first 10 games on the road and the first since the 2003 campaign.
preseason poll… The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. The defending league regular season champions Monmouth earned 112 points to be tabbed as the preseason favorite while Quinnipiac, the team that defeated the Hawks in the MAAC Championship Game, earned 101 points to finish second in the poll. Iona (98), Fairfield (90), Manhattan (64), Siena (62), Rider (49), Marist (35), Niagara (32) and Saint Peter's (26) rounded out the poll
foreign flavor… Head coach Julian Richens has an international feel to his 2013 squad. Freshman Gabrielle Bandelli (Italy), junior Michael Broncati (Brazil), sophomore Luke Fairlamb (England), Davis Hocking (Canada), Reece Lambert (New Zealand), Marcel Maddee' (Germany), Louis Mobbs (England) and Dor Uzan (Israel) each hail from countries outside the United States.
new to the flock… Head coach Julian Richens has added junior Carlos Cartegna and freshmen Gabrielle Bandelli, Ezequiel Cei, Michael Crentsil, Itay Hajaj, Davis Hocking, Brandon Pereira, Chris Rodrigues, Andrew Romero have been added to the team in 2014.
about the coach… Head coach Julian Richens is in his fourth season as the head coach of the men's soccer team at Saint Peter's. The Peacocks beat Seton Hall in the 2012 season opener under the watch of Richens.
