Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Rider defeated Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's volleyball contest on Saturday.
Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) paced the Peacocks with a game-high 18 kills to go along with 14 digs and a team-best .429 hitting percentage. Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) tallied a game-best 41 assists in the losing effort.
Ryan Ackermann recorded a team-high 14 kills, while Jacklyn Webber and Kaitlyn Griffin both finished with double-digit kill totals in the victory.
Rider (17-12, 10-5 MAAC) defeated Saint Peter's (6-19, 3-13 MAAC) in five sets to sweep the season-series against the Peacocks.
In the opening game, the Broncs opened up a 21-15 advantage. The Peacocks battled back, scoring five unanswered points to get within one of tying. Rider countered with a 4-1 run to win the set, 25-21.
Trailing 22-20 in the second set, Saint Peter's rallied back with a 5-0 run to win 25-22 and tie the series 1-1.
Knotted at seven in the third set, the Peacocks scored six straight points to take a 13-7 lead. Saint Peter's did not relinquish its lead, winning the set 25-20 and taking a 2-1 set lead.
In the fourth set, both teams exchanged points with Saint Peter's holding a 14-13 edge. Rider used a 6-0 run to take the lead en route to a 25-17 set victory, forcing a decisive fifth set.
Rider opened up the final set with an 8-2 lead en route to a 15-6 set victory and 3-2 series win over the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Nov. 15 for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest against Marist. Opening serve is set for 12 p.m.
