Pinheiro And Moffatt Earn MAAC Indoor Honors

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Nkeka Pinheiro (Ajax, Ontario/Ajax) and Alexandra Moffatt (Smithville, Texas/Smithville), members of the Saint Peter's track and field team, earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) indoor track and field honors for the week of Dec. 9-15. 

Pinheiro was named MAAC Women's Track Performer of the Week for her efforts at the Brother Jasper Invitational on Dec. 13. The freshman sprinter earned first-place honors in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.04. Pinheiro also notched a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash, recording a time of 7.84 seconds.

Moffatt earned MAAC Women's Field Performer of the Week for her record-breaking performance at the 6th Annual MAC Classic on Dec. 14. The sophomore broke a Saint Peter's record with her 3.60-meter (11' 9.75") effort in the pole vault. The record was previously held by Mary Krug, who vaulted 3.25 meters (10'8") in 2010. 

Pinheiro is the first Saint Peter's freshman to earn the award since Morgan McLaughlin in the 2012-13 indoor season.  

Saint Peter's University has now been awarded MAAC Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this year in four different sports.

The team returns to action on Jan. 10 when the squad travels to compete New Haven, Conn. to compete in the Yale Invitational.
