University of Texas At San Antonio Completes Three-Game Sweep With Seven-Inning Win

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of Texas at San Antonio defeated Saint Peter's 14-0 in seven innings in a non-conference baseball contest on Sunday.

Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) and Chris Hugg (Ironia, N.Y./Randolph) each recorded a hit for the Peacocks (0-3) in the loss.

RJ Perucki paced the Roadrunners (3-0) with four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored. Mitchell Matulia, John Welborn and Jesse Baker each posted two hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the winning effort.

Texas at San Antonio scored in every inning but the first en route to a 14-0 seven-inning win to complete the three-game sweep.

Matulia doubled home the first run of the game and then Welborn added an RBI single for a 2-0 lead after two innings.

Mike Warren hit a bases clearing three-run double in the third to increase the lead to 5-0.

In the fourth, Baker and Perucki each smacked an RBI single before Horacio Correa III singled home the third run of the inning to increase the margin to 8-0.

The Roadrunners added four runs in the fifth thanks to a Tony Ramirez RBI single to right, a Perucki RBI single to center and a two-run double by C.J. Pickering for a 12-0 margin.

Perucki capped his four-RBI afternoon with a two-run single through the left side to set the final score at 14-0.

The Peacocks best chance to score came when Hugg doubled down the left field line to start the second inning, but was caught trying to steal third to end the threat. Moore singled with one out in the fourth and moved to second on a ground out, but another ground out ended the threat.

Justin Anderson picked up the win after pitching a two-hit shutout for five innings with five strikeouts. John Leiter (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) took the loss for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's returns to the diamond at the Wake Forest Tournament on Feb. 28 against Saint Louis. First pitch is 10 a.m.
