Gomez And Feneron Pace Saint Peter's Swimming And Diving At Second Day Of ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Jonathan Gomez (Cali, Colombia/Patrick Henry [Va.]) and Marie Feneron (Molsheim, France/Lycee Henri Meck) both made it to the awards podium to pace the Saint Peter's men's and women's swimming and diving team at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday.

Gomez, who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Male Most Outstanding Swimmer two weeks ago, placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 48.73. Feneron finished third in the 400 IM with a school-record time of 4:32.19.

Matea Samardzic (Split, Croati/Ekonomsko-Birotehnicka Skola), who placed third in the 500 free on Friday, recorded a ninth-place standing in the 100 back with a time of 55.62 on Saturday. Sean Dunne (Holmdel, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) placed 11th in the 100 breast with a time of 57.60.

Gomez, Dunne, Manuel Garcia (Mexico City, Mexico/The American School Foundation) and Nicholas Riepe (Middlesex, N.J./Saint Joseph) placed sixth in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:34.46.

Navy leads the men's side with a score of 401 while Binghamton (328), Columbia (298), Marist (283) and Pittsburgh (253) round out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Peacocks sit in ninth place with a total of 96 points.

Pittsburgh leads the women's side after two days with a 377 points while Navy (334), Marist (292), Columbia (285) and Bucknell (266) round out the Top-5 teams at the event. Saint Peter's is 11th with 59 points.

The Peacocks return to action in the final day of the ECAC Championships on Sunday. Preliminaries start at 9 a.m. and final are slated to start at 4 p.m. Samardzic will open the final day of events on Sunday in the 200 back. Gomez hits the water in the 100 free before Mushtei warms up for her 1650 free by competing in the 200 breast. After Dunne makes his last splash in the 200 breast, Feneron, Gomez and Riepe each make a run at the 200 fly. Anastasiia Mushtei  (Dneiptopnovsh, Ukraine/Finans Deukomi) and Christina Petrelis (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) will then go the distance in the 1650 free at 3 p.m.
