JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Desi Washington (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin [Delaware State]), a member of the Saint Peter's men's basketball team, is featured in the current edition of Sports Illustrated.

Washington is listed as a Breakout Performer after hitting the game-winning shot against Fairfield in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament First Round on Mar. 6. The junior hit the decisive 3-pointer three times against the Stags in the waning seconds of games to give the Peacocks a 55-54 win on Jan. 8, a 63-62 victory on Feb. 25 and a 65-62 overtime win on Mar. 6.

After hitting the shot in the MAAC Tournament, Washington's three game-winners against Fairfield was featured on ESPN over the next couple of days. Sports Center showed all three game-winners right before its nightly Top-10 on Mar. 6 and then the live edition of Sports Center produced a three-minute segment the next morning where the guard's heroics against the Stags were compared to Reggie Miller against the Knicks, Eli Manning against the Patriots and David Ortiz against the Yankees. The ESPN show Around The Horn had a short segment on Washington on Mar. 7 and College Game Day also touched on the subject on Mar. 8.

In addition, Yahoo Sports covered the shot and talked to Saint Peter's head coach John Dunne after the game.

Washington has gained notoriety for his dramatics against Fairfield, but the junior also hit the decisive 3-pointer against Seton Hall to give Saint Peter's an 83-80 overtime win against the Pirates and end a 17-game losing streak against its neighboring rival on Dec. 14.

Saint Peter's finished the season by winning seven of its final 10 games and posted a 14-17 overall mark and 9-11 record in league play.
