JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to conference foe Siena on Saturday.
Adina Ungurean-Halagian (Bucharest, Romania/Schiller International School) was the lone winner for the Peacocks, earning a 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 13-11 victory over Ali Garrity. Ivana Grbelja (Kelowna, Canada/Immaculata Regional) suffered a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Carly Halloway. Elena Melian Puigventos (Gran Canaria, Spain/Canlebury School of las Palmas) fell to her opponent, 6-0, 6-1. Lucia Radovic (Zadar, Crotia/Skola Primientiene Umietnosti Dizajna) and Vanessa Vogel (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek) each suffered losses in their singles matches.
Siena defeated the Peacocks in two of the three doubles matches. The duo of Halagian and Radovic dropped a 8-2 decision. The tandem of Grbelja and Puigventos fell in its doubles contest.
With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 3-7 overall, while Siena improves to 7-9 overall this season.
The squad returns to action Mar. 23, when the team welcomes Manhattan College to the Yanitelli Bubble for conference play. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
