Niagara Downs Men's Tennis, 6-1

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's men's tennis fell to Niagara, 6-1, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Sunday.

Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador/APCH) was the lone winner in singles action for the Peacocks, defeating his opponent in straight sets, 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-4).

Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) dropped his match against Inaki Belloso in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 8-10. Tom Jottrand (Waterloo, Belgium/CCM) was able to win the first set of his singles match, but fell in three sets to David Raymond. Fabian Valdiviezo (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio-Aleman) was defeated in straight sets. Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada/Laurel Spring) and Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) each dropped its singles match.

Saint Peter's was defeated in all three of its doubles matches against the Purple Eagles.

With the loss, the Peacocks fall to 6-6 overall while Niagara ends a three-match skid and earn its eight victory of the year.

Saint Peter's returns to action Apr. 5, when the team rolls into Hamden, Conn for a match against Quinnipiac.
