JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Mount St. Mary's downed the Saint Peter's women's tennis 6-1 in a non-conference battle on Sunday.
The Mount took five of six singles contests from the Peacocks on the afternoon at the Yanitelli Bubble.
Saint Peter's won its opening singles match, with a 6-4, 6-3 victory for Adina Ungurean-Halagian (Bucharest, Romania/Schiller International School) over Samantha Pinchoff.
Ivana Grbelja (Kelowna, Canada/Immaculata Regional) suffered a loss to Liz Rossi, 1-6, 0-6. Kelly Smith defeated Elena Melian Puigventos (Gran Canaria, Spain/Canlebury School of las Palmas) in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. Taylor D'Agostino downed Vanessa Vogel (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek), 6-3, 6-0. Mount St. Mary's won the last two singles matches by default.
The Peacocks was able to take one of the doubles matches on the afternoon.
With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 4-12 overall while the Mount improves to 9-12.
The squad returns to action Apr. 17, when they host a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) match against Marist.
