FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Stags downed the Saint Peter's men's tennis team in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) duel on Saturday.
Saint Peter's was swept by the Stags in singles competition. Ian Tesmond downed Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor), 6-2, 6-3. Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador/APCH) was blanketed by Ofir Soloman, 6-0, 6-0. Fabian Valdiviezo (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio-Aleman) took his opponent to three sets, but suffered the decisive third set defeat. Cameron Amyot topped Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada/Laurel Spring), 6-2, 7-5. Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) was defeated by Peter Colliard, 0-6, 5-7. Fairfield took the final singles match by default.
The Peacocks lone victory came in doubles play, as the tandem of Carrera and Valdiviezo downed their opponents, 8-6.
Saint Peter's concludes its season at 8-10 overall and 2-5 in MAAC action.
