Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – LIU Brooklyn defeated Saint Peter's 11-5 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) paced the Peacocks (5-19) with a 3-for-4 performance and two runs scored. Chris Hugg (Ironia, N.J./Randolph) added two hits and two RBIs while Nick Henriquez (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) added drove in two runs in the loss.
John Ziznewski fueled the Blackbirds (12-9-1) with a 3-for-5 game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Pete Leonello added two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored in the winning effort.
Saint Peter's held the lead twice in the first four and a half innings before LIU Brooklyn scored nine unanswered runs to take the lead for good and go on for the victory.
After the Peacocks scored twice in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 edge, the Blackbirds answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead it would not relinquish.
Charles Misiano tied the game with a double to left field before Leonello gave Saint Peter's the lead for good on an RBI double to left. Ziznewski then hit a two-run single up the middle and Mark Henandez capped the five-run inning with an RBI single to left for a 7-2 advantage.
LIU Brooklyn increased its lead to 11-3 after posting four runs in the sixth. Leonello cleared the bases with a three-run double and Ziznewski plated the fourth run of the inning on a single up the middle.
Saint Peter's came back with two runs in the seventh. Ariel Ramirez (San Domingo, Dominican Republic/Babeque) walked with one out before Kristoffersen singled and Sean Henry (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) walked to load the bases. Hugg brought home Ramirez on an RBI single to left before Henriquez scored Kristoffersen on a fielder's choice to trim the margin to 11-5, but the Peacocks could get no closer.
The game started with Saint Peter's scoring a run in the first after loading the bases. After Kristoffersen opened the game with a single to left, Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) walked and Hugg reached on an infield single to load the bases. Henriquez plated Kristoffersen with a sacrifice fly to center, but then the Blackbirds got out of the jam with a strikeout and a groundout to end the threat.
Ziznewski hit an opposite field two-run homer in the fourth to give LIU Brooklyn a 2-1 margin.
The Peacocks responded with two runs in the next frame to retake a one-run lead at 3-2. Michael Wulff (Madison, N.J./Madison) started the rally with a single to center. Nick Cardamone (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) walked before Kristoffersen was intentionally walked to load the bases. Henry brought home Wulff when he coaxed a bases-loaded walk before Hugg plated Cardamone on a sacrifice fly to left.
The Blackbirds then scored the next nine runs and never looked back to earn the midweek victory.

The Peacocks return to action when they host Monmouth in a three-game set starting on Saturday. The two teams will play a nine-inning game and a seven-inning affair starting at 12 p.m.
