HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday.
The Knights played well in singles competition, taking five of six matches from the Peacocks.
Tom Jottrand (Waterloo, Belgium/CCM) was lone the Peacocks winner in singles play, defeating his opponent in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 10-8.
Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) dropped his contest to Arvis Berzins, 0-6, 2-6. Gonzalo Quintana defeated Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada/Laurel Spring), 6-0, 6-2. Arnaud Valentin topped Luke Whaley (California/La Costa Canyon), 6-3, 7-5. Julien Phillippe downed Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth), 6-2, 6-0. Hugo Lima (Puebla, Mexico /Memorial) lost his singles match in straight sets, 0-6, 1-6.
Fairleigh Dickinson swept all three of the doubles matches played on the afternoon.
With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 7-8 overall while Fairleigh Dickinson improves to 2-8 this season.
The squad returns to action Apr. 12, when the team travels to take on Saint Joseph's.
