Saint Peter's Baseball Falls To St. John's In Final Non-Conference Game

QUEENS, N.J. – St. John's downed Saint Peter's 13-4 in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday.

Nick Henriquez (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) paced the Peacocks (11-38) with two hits and two RBIs while Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) added a hit and a run scored in the loss.

Michael Donadio fueled the Red Storm (33-17) with three hits, three runs scored and four RBIs while Zach Lauricella added two hits, a run scored and three RBIs in the winning effort.

Saint Peter's scored the first two runs of the game before St. John's scored 10 unanswered runs and never looked back to improve to 18-0 against Saint Peter's in the first meeting between the two teams since 2006.

The Peacocks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) reached on a wild pitch after striking out and moved to third on Moore's opposite field double before both runners touched home on Henriquez's two-run single up the middle.

St. John's answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good. Lauricella tied the game with a two-run homer to left field. Donadio then hit a two-run triple and Troy Dixon plated a fifth run on an RBI groundout for a 5-2 lead.

Lauricella knocked in his third run in two innings on a single up the middle in the second to increase the Red Storm lead to 6-2.

A four-run seventh pushed St. John's advantage to 10-2. Donadio singled home the first run before Tyler Sanchez smacked a two-run double down the left field line and then Sanchez scored on an error to cap the four-run stanza.

In the eighth, Saint Peter's pushed across two runs. After Jim Smith (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) reached on an error, Kyle Grimes (Iselin, N.Y./John F. Kennedy Memorial) was hit with a pitch and Sean Henry (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) walked to load the bases. Smith then touched home on a passed ball and Grimes scored on a wild pitch to trim the margin to 10-4.

The Red Storm answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to RBI singles from Donadio and Robbie Knighies before Dixon plated a run on a groundout to give St. John's a 13-4 margin.

A.J. Celentano (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) took the loss for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's concludes the regular season at Manhattan on Thursday and Friday. The two teams start the series with a twinbill on Thursday starting at 12 p.m.
