Box Score 2 LOUNDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Saint Peter's softball team dropped two games against Siena in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) doubleheader on Saturday. Siena took the opening contest 7-2 and the second contest 7-6.
Nicole Olmedo (Chino, Calif./Chino) recorded two hits and one RBI in the first game, while Candice Koch (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) chipped in with one hit and one RBI.
Alyssa Lancaster paced Siena with two RBI and one hit while Stephanie Viggiano added three hits, one RBI and two runs scored.
Siena got on the board in the third inning, scoring two runs. Viggiano hit a RBI triple to score Paige Lloyd. Viggiano later scored on a throwing error by the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's cut into the deficit in the fourth inning, following a RBI base hit from Koch to left field to advance Crystal Carlucci (Iselin, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) home.
The Saints' offense got going in the fifth inning, starting with a two-run homerun to give Siena a 4-1 advantage. Later in the inning, Abby Carpenter brought in a run following a sacrifice fly to centerfield. With Mikayla Powlowsky on third base, Saint Peter's committed an error that allowed her to reach home and give Siena a 6-1 lead.
Siena added another run in the sixth, fueled by a base hit from Melanie Kalesse. Olmedo hit a homerun in the seventh inning, but Siena held on for the 7-2 victory.
Jessika Sandrini picked up the victory on the mound, throwing a complete game and striking out seven batters.
In the second contest, Carlucci recorded a career-high five RBIs on two hits and also finished with two runs scored. Olmedo finished with three hits and two runs.
Saint Peter's scored three runs in the third, powered by a three-run homerun from Carlucci. Siena countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, sparked by a two-run blast from Carpenter to only trail, 3-2.
The Saints added two runs in the fifth, fueled by a two-run single from Sandrini. The Peacocks responded with three scores in the sixth, beginning with a two-run base hit from Carlucci. Later in the inning, Carlucci scored on a fielder's choice to give Saint Peter's a 6-5 lead.
Siena took the lead for good in the bottom sixth, following a sacrifice fly from Viggiano and a triple from Kaleese to give the Saints the 7-6 victory.
With the losses, Saint Peter's falls to 10-40 overall and 4-14 in conference action.
The Peacocks return to action tomorrow for its season finale against Marist. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
