LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Isaiah Harris (Orange, N.J./Immaculate Conception) continued to build to his resume following the first day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Championships on Saturday.
The Monmouth men's and women's track teams are atop the MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships following the first day of competition. The Hawks' men squad held a 74-55 lead over second place Iona, while the Monmouth women's team holds a 101-46 edge over Rider.
Rounding out the men's scoring were third-place Manhattan (48), fourth-place Rider (31), fifth-place Saint Peter's (12), sixth place Marist (9) and in seventh Canisius (4). Rounding out the women's scoring were third-place Manhattan (45.5), fourth place Quinnipiac (29), fifth place Iona (28), sixth place Saint Peter's (13.5), seventh place Marist (7), eight place Canisius (2) and in ninth Niagara (1).
Harris added a 16th championship medal on day one, following a first place finish in the men's long jump with a 7.21 meter performance.
Alexandra Moffatt (Smithville, T.X/Smithville) placed sixth in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.25 meter, scoring 2.50 points. Jennifer Cajou (Amityville, N.Y./Farmingdale High School) scored four points in the women's long jump, following a fifth place finish with a leap of 5.57 meters. Shaena Wizzard (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck), Andrijiana Andric (Serbia/Belvaue) and Sunita Kumar (Munich, Germany/Gymnasium Kirchheim) rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Peacocks.
Regina Raglan notched a top-10 finish in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 44.05 meters. Kumar finished third in the women's javelin throw with a 37.40 meter effort. Meredith Przybocki (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) finished eighth with a toss of 29.91 meters.
Bentley Whitfield (Massapequa, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) came in 12th in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 46.43 meters. The team of Mohamed Merdan (Bayonne, N.J./County Prep), John Paul Herrera (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne), Karl Desil (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin Senior HS) and Jose Baxter (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) came in seventh in the 4x800 meter relay, recording a time of 8:53.52.
The MAAC Outdoor Championships resume tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
