JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and ESPN announced a new format for the 2014 MAAC Basketball Preseason Show. The new structure will consists of three separate broadcasts, including two coaches' forums and a true preseason show.
The first coaches' forum will feature second-year Saint Peter's women's basketball head coach Pat Coyle along with the other 10 MAAC women's basketball head coaches. The women's basketball coaches show will air on Sept. 3 on ESPN3 at 7 p.m.
The following night the 11 MAAC men's basketball coaches take center stage for their coaches' forum, including ninth-year Peacocks men's basketball John Dunne. The show will air on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. on Sept. 4.
Both shows will have the coaches grouped together in a state-of-the-art facility which includes monitors, a round table desk, and a six-camera set-up. The round table will also include MAAC basketball talent and Commissioner Richard J. Ensor to moderate the show.
A component of the coaches' forums will include a social media campaign in which fans and media will have the opportunity to submit questions that they want to ask the coaches using the hashtag #MAACHoops15. The goal of the forum is to create an engaging editorial broadcast with discussion points that will include topics ranging from individual team aspects to NCAA rule changes along with submitted questions from fans and the media. The campaign will begin a week prior to the airing of the show and all question submissions that are selected will be determined by the MAAC office and ESPN. Not all submitted questions are guaranteed to make the broadcast.
The traditional MAAC preseason show will air on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. The preseason show will incorporate elements from the filming of the coaches' forum, as well as announcing of the team standings in the preseason polls, members of the All-MAAC teams, and major award winners.
