VERONA, N.Y. – Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) finished 24th after the first day of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate to pace the Saint Peter's men's golf team to a ninth-place standing on Sunday.
Grubbs, who was the squad's top finisher to help the squad win its first-ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title in May, posted an 81 in the first round and a 75 in the second round to card a 156 and rank 24th in the first day of the inaugural event of the year.
Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneatles) (27th place, 157), Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (31st place, 159) and Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) (54th place, 170) each competed in both rounds on the afternoon for the Peacocks. Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) notched the best opening round for the team with a 79, but then withdrew from the competition in the second round.
Missouri leads its own two-day, three-round event with a score of 585, five strokes ahead of Cleveland State (590) while Detroit (606), Villanova (612) and Central Connecticut State (613) round out the Top-5 teams in the field. Saint Peter's posted a 326 in the first round and a 307 in the second round to card a 633 in the first day to rank ninth.
The Peacocks compete in the final round of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Monday.
