QUEENS, N.Y. – Members of the Saint Peter's women's team competed in the consolation bracket of the Hofstra Tournament on Saturday.
In the quarterfinal round, Elena Melian Puigventos advanced to the semifinals with an 8-5 victory over Kirstie Woodbury of Colgate University. Adina Ungurean-Halagian defeated Catherine Clark of Manhattan, 8-5.
Claudia Hellman and Malieva Hedberg dropped their quarterfinal matches in the bracket.
Both Pugiventos and Halagian won their semifinals match, setting up an all-Peacock consolation championship.
The championship match that was scheduled was not played due to rain.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Sept. 20, when the team travels to Staten Island, N.Y. to take on non-conference foe Wagner. Opening serve is slated for 11:00 a.m.
