NEWARK, N.J. – The Saint Peter's cross-country team ran in the NJIT Classic at Branch Brook Park on Saturday.
In the men's 8k event, Mohamed Merdan (Bridgewater, N.J./County Prep) paced the team with an eighth-place finish with a time of 29:16.00. Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) finished ninth, running a time of 29:27.00. Gadimi Dorielan, John Paul Herrera (Bayonne, NJ./Bayonne High School) and Kevin Olaya (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) rounded out the finishes for the men.
Jackie Anderson (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Georgie Nicholes (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) both placed in the top-five in the women's 5k run, finishing second and third respectively. Selena Marshall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle High School) notched a ninth-place finish, running the event in 22:33.55. Raquel Henderson (Ocean Twp, N.J./Ocean Twp.) and Vanessa Whittingham (Bloomfield, Conn./Bloomfield) rounded out the finishes for the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's returns to competition Oct. 4 when the team returns to Branch Brook Park to run in the Technology XC Challenge.
