Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany defeated Saint Peter's 5-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday.
Lauren Solene (Fall City, Wash./Mount Si) had a career-high 17 saves for the Peacocks (0-6-0) while Ashley Drozd (Baiting Hallows, N.Y./Riverhead) registered three shots on the afternoon.
Vivian Vega fueled the Great Danes (2-5-1) with two goals while Kiana Rugar added a tally and two assists and Krista Fitzpatrick dished out two assists in the winning effort.
Albany scored once in the first half and four times in the second frame en route its third-straight win against Saint Peter's in the first meeting between the two teams since 2003.
Vega gave the Great Danes a 1-0 lead at halftime after finding the back of the net after knocking in the rebound off a Rugar shot at 19:49.
Rugar then got the scoring started in the second half on a breakaway off a long pass off the foot of Fitzpatrick assist at 51:56 for a 2-0 edge.
Rugar had a hand in the third tally of the afternoon when she connected with Alexa Schneider at 60:22 to increase the lead to three goals.
Vega found the back of the net for the second time on the afternoon at 61:11 off feeders from Fitzpatrick and Shelby Belak before Bianca Webb sealed the 5-0 victory off passes from Morgan Loder and Kelsey Luke at 88:48.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Tuesday at Yale. Match time is 7 p.m.
