PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) ranks 11th to lead the Saint Peter's men's golf team to an eighth-place standing after the first day of the Rutgers Invitational on Friday.
Edmunds opened the first round with a one-under par round of 70 to sit in fifth place before shooting a 73 in the second round to finish the 36-contineous hole first day in 11th place with a score of 143, nine strokes behind the current leader.
Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) (29th place, 148), Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) (44th place, 151), Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (56th place, 153) and Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) (62nd place, 154) rounded out the Peacocks five team competitors. Dilio shot a team-best two-under par round of 69 in the second round.
Steven Competiello (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) (94th place, 169) is participating in the two-day event as an individual.
Rutgers leads its own three-round competition with a two-round score of 571, one stroke ahead of Fairfield (572) while Wagner (577), Wofford (578) and Hofstra (578) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. Saint Peter's shot a 301 in the first round and a 291 in the second round to card a 592 in the first day and rank eighth.
Saint Peter's concludes the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.
