PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) finished 36th to lead the Saint Peter's men's golf team to a 14th-place standing at the Rutgers Fall Invitational on Saturday.
Edmunds started the three-round two-day tournament strong after posting a one-under par round of 70 in the first round and a 73 in the second round on Friday before carding an 81 in the final round on Saturday to finish in 36th place after posting a 224 in the three rounds, 18 strokes behind the medalist.
Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) (46th place, 226), Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) (51st place, 227), Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) (63rd place, 229) and Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (71st place, 233) rounded out the Peacocks five team competitors. Molson had the best final round after posting a 72 on Saturday.
Steven Competiello (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) (95th place, 254) participated in the two-day event as an individual.
Wofford won the event with a score of 859, one stroke ahead of host Rutgers (860) while Fairfield (862), Wagner (868) and Lehigh (870) rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Peacocks posted a 301 in the first round, a 291 in the second round and a 309 on the final day to card a 901 and finish in 14th place.
Saint Peter's returns to action at the ECAC Championships on Sept. 29. It will be the first time the Peacocks will compete in the ECAC Championships since winning the event two years ago.
