Saint Peter's Men's Soccer Falls To St. Francis Brooklyn, 2-0

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – St. Francis Brooklyn defeated Saint Peter's 2-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday.

David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) made two saves for the Peacocks (1-6-0) while Gabrielle Bandelli (Florence, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Castelnuovo) had a team-high five shots in the loss.

John Makaya scored both of the Terriers' (3-4-1) goals on the afternoon while Jack Binks made one save to earn the shutout in the winning effort.

St. Francis Brooklyn scored twice in the second half and never looked back to earn its second-straight win in the series.

Makaya took a feed from Vincent Bezecourt at the 69:50 mark and found the back of the twine for the first goal of afternoon. Makaya then sealed the win his second goal of the day and the fourth of the season off a pass from Phillip Shafer at 73:43 for a 2-0 advantage.

Saint Peter's had several scoring chances in the game, but could not convert. Bandelli had a shot saved by Binks at 11:50 and Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) had a shot attempt blocked at the 30:52 mark and Michael Crentsil (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's) had his scoring chance go off the post at the 64:22 mark.

The Peacocks wrap up non-conference play at George Washington on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
