BRONX, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's cross-country team competed in the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday.
In the men's five-mile run, Kevin Olaya paced the team with his 45th-place finish, recording a time of 30:15.98. Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) and Mohamed Merdan (Bridgewater, N.J./County Prep) finished 60th and 61st respectively for the Peacocks. John Paul Herrera (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne High School) and Karl Desil (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin High School) rounded out the finishes for the men.
Navy placed first overall, followed by Fordham, Fairfield, Manhattan, Rutgers, St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairleigh Dickinson and Saint Peter's.
Jackie Anderson paced the women's team in the 5000-meter run, finishing 54th with a time of 22:45.63. Georgie Nicholes placed 60th, notching a run of 23:41.31. Carolina Herrera, Selena Marshall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle High School) and Victoria Lundin (Islip, N.Y./St. John The Baptist) rounded out the Saint Peter's competitors in the event.
Rutgers finished first overall on the women's side, followed by Fairfield. Fordham, Monmouth, Manhattan, St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairleigh Dickinson and Saint Peter's to round out the standings.
The Peacocks return to action on Sept. 13 when the team travels to Newark, N.J to run in the NJIT Classic at Branch Brook Park.
