last time out… The Saint Peter's Cross Country women's and men's teams both placed 11th overall in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Cross Country Championship meet on Saturday. Georgie Nicholes (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) paced the Peacocks with a time of 25:20.01 in the six kilometer race, placing 121st overall. Quinn Geraghty (Bogota, N.J. / Bogota) led the men's team with a time of 28:57.15 placing 160th overall.

preseason poll… Iona was selected as the preseason favorite for the men's side and was followed by Canisius, Quinnipiac, Marist, Rider, Monmouth, Fairfield, Siena, Manhattan, Niagara and Saint Peter's. On the women's side, Iona has been tabbed as the preseason favorite while Quinnipiac, Marist, Monmouth, Rider, Canisius, Siena, Manhattan, Fairfield, Niagara and Saint Peter's round out the poll.
new coaching staff to jersey city, familiar to the staff… Sylvester Inda, a 2011 graduate of Saint Peter's, took over the head coaching duties for cross country from Mike Massone while Massone now holds the title of director of cross country operations. India arrived in Jersey City as a sprinter before transitioning to the 800-meter run where he posted a personal-best time 1:55.48. Shona Potruzski, a 2013 graduate of Saint Peter's and four-year member of the cross country and track and field teams has been named an assistant coach for indoor and outdoor track and field. Named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Most Outstanding Track Performer in 2012, she won the 400-meter run at the MAAC Championships in 2010 and 2011 and the 400-meter hurdles in 2011 and 2012 during the outdoor season. She also won the 800-meter run during the 2012 indoor championships.
about the coach… Mike Massone enters his ninth season as the head coach of the men's and women's track & field programs, and his fifth as the head coach of the cross country team in 2015-16. In 2012-13, the women's indoor track & field team made it three in a row at the MAAC Championships to become only the second league school to three-peat. Massone was named the MAAC Women's Coach of the Year award for each season, and has now won six such awards: five on the women's side and one on the men's side. Massone is the most decorated head coach in any sport.
