EVENT: Saint Peter's at Pace with Rowan

opening dive... The Peacocks travel to Pace for a tri-meet that will also include Rowan. This will be the first meeting with these programs.
last time in the pool… Bence Greifenstein, Nicholas Riepe and Christina Petrelis each won three events to pace Saint Peter's swimming and diving in a tri-meet with NJIT and VMI on Nov. 7. On the men's side, VMI downed the Peacocks 157-90 and NJIT defeated the Jersey City team 163-80 while VMI defeated Saint Peter's 114-54 on the women's side. Greifenstein won the 100 breast (59.03), the 200 breast (2:11.43) and 100 IM (55.21) while Riepe took first in the 1000 free (9:53.81), 200 fly (1:55.39) and the 100 IM (55.21). Petrelis won the 200 free (2:05.61), the 500 free (5:25.06) and the 100 fly (1:02.46). Karen Castaneda was victorious in the 1000 free (10:56.53) while the sophomore finished second in the 200 back (2:21.06) and third in the 100 back (1:06.75) while Ericka Leynes was third in the 100 breast (1:41.13). Along with Greifenstein and Riepe on the men's side, Sean Dunne placed second in both the 100 breast (1:02.29) and the 100 fly (53.90) while Thomas Calloni finished second (4:50.98) and third in the 200 free (1:46.93). Greifenstein, Riepe, Calloni and Dunne teamed up to place third in the 200 free (1:32.54).
next time in the water… Saint Peter's travels to the H2ounds Invitational on Dec. 4-5 for the squad's final meet of the 2015 calendar year.
welcome to the flock… Brianni Thomas joined the women's swimming and diving team this season.
preseason poll… The four-time defending MAAC Men's Swimming & Diving champion Rider Broncs have been tabbed as the preseason favorite and was followed by Marist, Canisius, Bryant, Iona, Niagara, Saint Peter's, Manhattan, Fairfield and Monmouth rounded out the men's poll. On the women's side, six-time defending champion Marist has been selected as the preseason favorite while Rider, Canisius, Siena, Iona, Fairfield, Niagara, Saint Peter's, Manhattan and Monmouth rounded out the poll.
most noble… Senior Christina Petrelis was named to the Most Noble Order of the Peacock. Petrelis is one of 10 Saint Peter's seniors with the highest grade point average coming into her senior year.
about the coach… Lia Kunnapas begins her first season as the swimming and diving head coach at Saint Peter's in 2015-16. Kunnapas comes to Saint Peter's after serving as an assistant coach at Immaculate Heart Academy and Bergen Catholic High School for the last two seasons. She also worked with the Montvale swim team for the summer of 2013. She has also worked the Total Performance Swim Camp (2011-12). A four-year letter winner for the Colgate women's swimming and diving team, Kunnapas was a four-time All-Patriot League first-team selection. She won the 100 back and the 200 back as a sophomore and then took first in the 200 free and 200 back as a junior at the Patriot League Championships. Kunnapas also was a member of the winning 400-free and 800-free relay teams at the league championships her senior year. She was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2012 and 2013.
