NEWARK, N.J. – Bence Greifenstein (Budapest, Hungary/Kerek), Nicholas Riepe (Middlesex, N.J./Saint Joseph) and Christina Petrelis (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) each won three events to pace Saint Peter's swimming and diving in a tri-meet with NJIT and VMI on Saturday. On the men's side, VMI downed the Peacocks 157-90 and NJIT defeated the Jersey City team 163-80 while VMI defeated Saint Peter's 114-54 on the women's side.
Greifenstein won the 100 breast (59.03), the 200 breast (2:11.43) and 100 IM (55.21) while Riepe took first in the 1000 free (9:53.81), 200 fly (1:55.39) and the 100 IM (55.21). Petrelis won the 200 free (2:05.61), the 500 free (5:25.06) and the 100 fly (1:02.46).
Karen Castaneda (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) was victorious in the 1000 free (10:56.53) while the sophomore finished second in the 200 back (2:21.06) and third in the 100 back (1:06.75) while Ericka Leynes was third in the 100 breast (1:41.13).
Along with Greifenstein and Riepe on the men's side, Sean Dunne (Holmdel, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) placed second in both the 100 breast (1:02.29) and the 100 fly (53.90) while Thomas Calloni (Jersey City, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) finished second (4:50.98) and third in the 200 free (1:46.93).
Greifenstein, Riepe, Calloni and Dunne teamed up to place third in the 200 free (1:32.54).
Saint Peter's returns to action on Nov. 21 at Pace in a tri-meet with Rowan. Match time is 2:30 p.m.
