  • Sunday's matchup against Siena marks the 65th meeting in the all-time series.
  • This is the second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game of the season.
  • Siena holds a 33-31 edge in the all-times, including ten consecutive victories.

 

About the Saints:

  • The Saints achieved their first win of the season of the season against Monmouth 69-63 on December 4, 2015.
  • Freshman Jackie Benitez posted 15 points, five rebounds and four steals. Sophomore guard Kollyns Scarbrough scored in double figures for the seventh straight game to start the season, pacing the Saints with 16 points.

Last time we played:

  • Siena defeated Saint Peter's 64-47 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on March 1, 2015.
  • Alyssa Velles (Franklin, Conn. / Norwich Free Academy) scored a team-high 12 points, while Sajanna Bethea(Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) posted 11 points and six rebounds. 

Last time out:

  • Canisius rallied past the Peacocks 60-53 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's basketball action on Friday night. 
  • Marcia Senatus (Roselle, N.J. / Trenton Catholic) paced the Peacocks with 13 points, six rebounds, and one assist. Alyssa Velles (Franklin, Conn. / Norwich Free Academy) followed with ten points and four rebounds while Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) added nine points, six rebounds, and two assists. 

Last Season:

• The Peacocks went 5-26 overall in 2014-15, averaging 50.6 points per game. 

• Hala Mostafa (Cairo, Egypt / Modern Narmer Language School) scored a career-high 18 points to power Saint Peter's to a 66-58 upset victory over Marist on February 26, 2015.\

• Sophomore Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa./Pennbury) has been named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason second-team. Bethea, who was named to the MAAC All-Rookie team as a freshman, paced the team in 2014-15 with 10.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. The 5-11 sophomore forward reached double figures in points 18 times in her freshman campaign, including posting double digits in her last six contests. 

• Bethea notched a career-best 20 points in a 65-58 win against Niagara on Jan. 29, 2015 on ESPN3. She also registered eight double-doubles last season, including both games in the league postseason.

ESPN:

• The Saint Peter's women's basketball team will be the first squad featured on ESPN3 when the squad travels to Manhattan on Jan. 21 for a 5 p.m. contest. The two teams split the season series last season with each team winning on the road.

Coach Coyle:

Pat Coyle enters her third season as the women's basketball Head Coach in 2015-16. She makes her return to the Metro Atlantic Conference (MAAC) after coaching Loyola from 1993-98 while also coming back to the New York metropolitan area. 

• Coyle spent more than 10 years with the WNBA's New York Liberty, including five plus seasons as the head coach. She comes to Jersey City after serving as Agnus Berenato's Associate Head Coach at Pittsburgh for the last two seasons. 

• Coyle joined the Panthers staff in 2010-11 as an assistant coach to help Pittsburgh advance to the Big East Tournament second round in her first season in Pittsburgh before being elevated to Associate Head Coach in her second season.
