Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Saint Peter's softball team lost both of its contests at the Rebel Games on Thursday.
The Peacocks (0-4) began the day with a matchup with Bucknell (15-9) that would go to extra innings.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Saint Peter's got on the board in the fourth inning. Kirsten Kelley (Seaford, N.Y. / General Douglas McArthur) opened up the inning with a base hit up the middle to advance to first. Next at-bat, Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wis. / William Bay) doubled into left center to advance Kelley to third. Two batters later, Francesca D'Amato (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) hit a RBI-single to tie things up 1-1.
The Bison threatened to score in the seventh inning. Bucknell was able to load the bases with two outs. Crystal Carlucci (Iselin, N.J. / John F. Kennedy Memorial) came up with the big strikeout to force extra innings.
In the eighth inning, Shamar Sanchez (Levittown, N.Y. / Island Trees) gave the Peacocks a 2-1 lead off a RBI-hit from Candice Koch (Orland Park, Ill. / Carl Sandburg).
Bucknell countered with a run in the bottom of the inning and would use a walk-off base hit in the ninth to win 3-2.
The afternoon contest for the Peacocks was a rematch against Creighton (11-4).
The Bluejays held the Peacocks scoreless in the contest, while scoring four runs in the first two innings en route to a 10-0 victory. Liz Dike and Anna O'Gorman tallied three RBIs apiece in the win.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Mar. 12 with a twinbill against Hampton. Game times are set for 10:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
