Niagara Defeats Saint Peter's Men's Tennis

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Niagara defeated Saint Peter's 5-2 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's tennis contest on Sunday. 

The Peacocks (5-10, 1-2 MAAC) opened up winning its first doubles contest of the afternoon. The tandem of Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador / APCH) and Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don, Russia / [UMKC]) won their doubles contest 8-6.

Niagara (3-6, 1-0 MAAC) went on to win a pair of 8-3 decisions in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. 

In singles play, Carrera won his matchup against Inaki Belloso in three sets, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (1). Ivanov won a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4) decision over Michael Elortegui in No. 2 singles.

The Purple Eagles closed out singles play winning the last four singles matchups en route to the 5-2 victory.

Saint Peter's returns to action on Mar. 28 when the team resumes non-conference play at Hofstra.
